Here is a place to post ideas for morning quick writes.
Arlene came up with the idea of having students (and adults) describe what flavor ice cream they would be and why.
If you had to wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be and why would you choose it?
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Imagine your life is now a book. In approximately 100 words write a summary (blurb) for the book that will appear on the back cover.
If I could accomplish one more thing I would....
If you could travel back in time where would you go and why?
I used to think....
What would you do with three wishes?
What animal best describes you?
Draw a picture of your family home or another location that you have had a lot of experiences in. With a partner explain the location and why you have selected to include certain images in your drawing. Your partner can ask questions of your drawing during your sharing time.
Trace your hand and write words within your hand that describe all the things your hands have helped you do.
Draw a sketch of a dream catcher and place words that express your dreams along the web, around the edge, or hanging as feathers.
[A great way to partner groups up is through the selection of silly bands. Each package comes with two of eight different shapes. Students find their partner based on the shape they select. The shape can also serve as a writing prompt in itself.]
